Giving Back to Our Community

Our commitment to supporting worthwhile causes stems from personal experience and a belief that helping others benefits our entire region.

A Personal Journey

Andrew, the founder of Meon Valley Web, has been creating websites since Tim Berners-Lee said "Hi" - building digital solutions for companies like HSBC, Hoseasons, Eastern Electricity, French Country Cottages, and TravelBag prior to 2007.

But life changed dramatically in 2007 when Andrew's daughter Sophie was catastrophically injured in a road traffic accident. During the 9 months she spent in a coma and the 5 years in hospital that followed, Andrew spent countless hours in hospital corridors and waiting rooms - time he used to keep his web development knowledge current.

Sophie eventually came home to a purpose-built house in the beautiful Meon Valley, where she lives with her family and animals. This experience opened Andrew's eyes to the incredible work done by charities and the vital support they provide to families in crisis.

For mobile CT scanner

The family started organising Sophie's Gift Ball, an annual fundraising event that has helped raise over £300,000 for a mobile CT scanner. This vital piece of equipment helps people like Sophie while they're in ICU, providing life-saving diagnostic capabilities directly at the bedside.

Andrew & Alison also cycled the South Downs Way and participated in numerous other fundraising initiatives, always with the goal of giving back to the services that supported their whole family during their darkest hours.

The family has contributed to organisations including the The Southampton University Hospitals Trust, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, the QE2 Activity Centre, the Saints Disabled Supporters' Association and many other beneficial services that make a real difference to people's lives.
